Group Assignment

For this assignment, I was in the group that is formed by Tan Ming Long. We were asked to solve a question    gave by the lecturer using the theories we learned throughout the semester. It was about solving the total surface area and the volume of a object. After we have solve it, we have to build the model out.


 Firstly, I applied formula of area of sector. This is because I want to find out the area of segment which later I will deduct the value of it in order to find out the total area of  the two overlapped cylinders, then I can calculate the volume of it after I found out the area of it.



Secondly, during my calculation for the area of the segment, I also applied the Pythagorean Theorem. This is because I want to find the Hypotenuse of the triangle. Then I can use the Hypotenuse to find the area of the slant triangle, which later will lead me to find out the total surface area for the whole object.



Lastly, I applied the formula of the volume of cylinder. I used the area of both combined cylinder to multiply the height of the whole object.(I explained partly of how i found the area of both combined cylinder previously, which is during the first mathematical theory). Then I will get the total volume of the whole object.




 This is the model that we made.

Throughout this assignment, I learned that every question of mathematics have different solution for it. Just like this assignment that we did, I found out that I could have more than 1 solutions to solve this assignment. Besides that, this assignment had also helped me to improvise my calculating skill and how I apply mathematical theory accurately on each questions.
